Privacy Policy

Apps Covered By This Policy

This policy applies to both BackCheck Labs Team (whole-team hockey stat tracking) and BackCheck Labs Goalie (goalie-only stat tracking). The privacy practices below apply to both apps unless explicitly noted otherwise.

The Short Version

Neither app collects, transmits, or shares any personal information. All data you enter is stored locally on your device. Backcheck Labs never has access to your data.

What We Collect

Nothing. Backcheck Labs does not collect, store, or have access to any data you enter into either BackCheck Labs Team or BackCheck Labs Goalie.

Where Your Data Lives

All data you create — teams, rosters, goalie profiles, games, and statistics — is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. This data does not leave your device and is not accessible to Backcheck Labs.

Your app preferences (such as which stats to display) are stored in your device's standard preferences storage and remain on your device only.

Purchases & Subscriptions

Both apps use Apple's App Store for all transactions. When you make a purchase:

  • Payment is handled by Apple through the App Store
  • We never see your payment information, Apple ID, or billing details
  • Apple's privacy policy governs all purchase transactions

Pricing differs between apps: BackCheck Labs Team offers a free 5-game trial and a $9.99/year auto-renewing Pro subscription. BackCheck Labs Goalie is a $1.99 USD ($2.99 CAD) one-time purchase with no subscription. You can manage or cancel any subscription via Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device.

Trial Period (Team App Only)

BackCheck Labs Team includes a free 5-game trial. The trial game counter is stored in your device's secure Keychain — a protected, encrypted storage area managed by iOS. This information never leaves your device. BackCheck Labs Goalie has no trial; it is a one-time purchase.

Analytics & Tracking

Neither app uses analytics tools, crash reporters, advertising networks, or tracking technologies. We have no visibility into how you use the app.

Data Sharing

We do not share any data with third parties because we do not collect any data to share.

Children's Privacy

Neither app collects personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Both apps are appropriate for all ages.

Your Data, Your Control

All data is stored locally on your device. There is no cloud sync or remote storage. You have full control:

  • View your data — it's all visible within the app
  • Delete your data — delete the app to remove all associated data from your device
  • Export your data — use the in-app report export feature (Team app exports full game and season reports; Goalie app exports goalie stat summaries)

Support & Contact Communications

If you contact us by email for support or other inquiries, we will receive your email address and the contents of your message. This information is used solely to respond to your request and is not shared with third parties, used for marketing, or retained beyond the time needed to resolve your inquiry.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the effective date above. Since we collect no data, changes are unlikely to affect your privacy.
